Outlook 2007: Sync error 0x80190194 (OAB synchronization)
https://www.pro-exchange.eu/images/topics/ex2007.bmpGot an interesting mail from John D, explaining an issue he faced while transitioning from a legacy non-Exchange mail environment to Exchange 2007 - Outlook 2007.
When running Outlook 2007 Cached Mode, he got the following sync error:
https://www.pro-exchange.eu/modules/...e2007/oab1.PNG
Testing the autodiscover service settings revealed that Outlook was going (like it should) to the web publishing point on the Client Access Server:
https://www.pro-exchange.eu/modules/...e2007/oab4.png
So what could be wrong?
Googling - oops- Live Searching the error returned the following URL:
Error 0x80190194 when using an Outlook 2007 client to download a Web Distribution enabled OAB
Where Dave Goldman clearly explains what the flow is for an Outlook 2007 client to download the Offline Address Book, and how they are generated at the Mailbox Server and replicated through the File Distribution Service to the Client Access Server.
In John's case, the File Distribution Service was indeed not functioning, since the directory on the Client Access Server was empty. Looking at the event log, there was indeed MsExchangeFDS ID 1008, that told the following:
Event Type: Information
Event Source: MSExchangeFDS
Event Category: FileReplication
Event ID: 1008
Date: 04/22/2008
Time: 1:55:46 PM
User: N/A
Computer: DC
Description:
Process MSExchangeFDS.exe (PID=2484). Offline Address Book data synchronization task has completed successfully. OAB name: "Default Offline Address Book", Guid: edb3e44f-c49b-4597-b996-cb1093405985
But just before that, there was another entry, MSExchangeFDS event ID 1021 that stated the following:
Process MSExchangeFDS.exe (PID=1548). Could not find directory DC/ExchangeOAB/3e86f7a1-e64d-4633-a6d4-34D50f7b7bb2. This is normal if the directory has never been generated. Otherwise, make sure this directory and share has read permission for the "Exchange Servers" group.
Looking at the file system on the Client Access Server, the OAB folder didn't seem to be shared, even though its properties stated it was shared.
Solution: uncheck the share security, and check it again, and there was the share symbol :-)
Restarting the File Distribution Service caused the replication of the Offline Address Book, and Outlook clients didn't get the 0x80190194 error anymore
i hope thise topic help you
