iscsi is an abbreviation of Internet Small Computer System Interface, an Internet Protocol (IP)-based storage networking standard for linking data storage facilities. By carrying SCSI commands over IP networks, iSCSI is used to facilitate data transfers over intranets and to manage storage over long distances. iSCSI can be used to transmit data over local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), or the Internet and can enable location-independent data storage and retrieval. The protocol allows clients (called initiators) to send SCSI commands (CDBs) to SCSI storage devices (targets) on remote servers. It is a popular storage area network (SAN) protocol, allowing organizations to consolidate storage into data center storage arrays while providing hosts (such as database and web servers) with the illusion of locally-attached disks. Unlike traditional Fibre Channel, which requires special-purpose cabling, iSCSI can be run over long distances using existing network infrastructure.

A storage area network (SAN) is an architecture to attach remote computer storage devices (such as disk arrays, tape libraries, and optical jukeboxes) to servers in such a way that the devices appear as locally attached to the operating system. A SAN typically is its own network of storage devices that are generally not accessible through the regular network by regular devices. The cost and complexity of SANs dropped in the late 2000's, resulting in much wider adoption across both enterprise and small to medium sized business environments.[citation needed]
A SAN alone does not provide the "file" abstraction, only block-level operations. However, file systems built on top of SANs do provide this abstraction, and are known as SAN filesystems or shared disk file systems.

الي حد علمي أن SAN Storage
ده جهاز ضخم بيتحط عليه كل البيانات الخاصه بالشبكه وفكره توصيله يفض علي سوتشات سيسكو
ولا زم يتوصل بFiber optic
او SCSI
ونوع كروت الشبكه تسمي HBA


بس والله لا أعلم أكثر من ده

يتكون من الترتيب من تحت لفوق بالنسبه للراك

ups جهاز فيه بطاريات يخلي الكبينه شغاله لو طفي الكهربا
pdu بتوصل فيها البور لكل مكونات الراك
server وبكون غالبا عليه نظام تشغيل وابلكيشن فقط ولا يخزن عليه داتا مهمه
liperary مسؤوله عن النسخ الأحتياطي
san storage تخزين البيانات
san switch سويتش يوصل فايبر بين السيرفر والسان
