عيوب جهاز الديل بعد مراجعة الريفيوز للأعضاء المستخدمين للجهاز
Cons:
- Poor architecture. The laptop is big and heavy for no reason. The display lid is very thick
- Poor architecture. The LCD closes touching and squeezing the keyboard. Very easy to scratch the brittle screen this way from week one.
- Runs hot. The CPU is located so far from the cooling fan warming all parts of the body. Again, poor architecture
- No option to turn off the discrete GPU -> more heat
- Noisy cooling fan. On all the time even when idle. Modest CPU work makes it scream suddenly.
- Poor battery life even with 9cell battery
Summary:
Dell put appearance over performance in their Studio XPS. Overlooked desgin details are too many for such premium and expensive laptop.
The machine would have been a winner if it was a bet lighter and designed with better heat sinking capacity and power management.
The I7 processor tends to get very hot, especially when running mulitimedia, and I've noticed that the Blu Ray player tends to skip when the unit gets hot. I purchased a Belkin cooling pad and it does a great job of dissipating heat and preventing media problems.
I noted on the keyboard that there is no "Pause" key. Normally this would not be an issue except that some applications I run require the key. I simply purchased a USB keyboard when I need the "Pause" key.
There are less USB ports than I would like to see, but the addition of a USB hub allows me to contect all my devices at my home desk.'
My only issues with it so far is that I have spent around eight hours with Dell support already, most of that time in one day. My computer was freezing up early on and it just seemed to get more frequent as time went by. Spent several hours with the Dell rep reinstalling all the drivers and such, but that did not fix the problem, so everything including the operating system had to be reinstalled. That took HOURS. The rep was very good about it and patient, so points for that, but I do not feel like I should have had to invest that much of my personal time for issues that should not have been there in the first place. Even after all that I had to go right back to them because the reinstall messed my touchpad up and the cursor was randomly drifting and jumping and the scrolling did not work. Apparently a few drivers got missed in the reinstall. So overall just a frustrating experience.
So to sum it up, the computer itself has been really great so far minus the problems. Chances are this is not going to happen to a lot of people buying this computer, so I am still giving the computer a good rating overall.
