    Editor’s comment:
Overall performance was excellent and our heat tests showed that the Thermaltake Frio had plenty of heat capacity to spare given that the C/W numbers were almost identical between the tests.  Cooling performance can be enhanced by installing the included secondary cooling fan

Its two included fans push it above and beyond products that are much, much more expensive and because of the speed adjustability, it is infinitely adaptable to suite your needs.

First, the design : Frio want to make it strong and good dimension [not fat or thin] and when we install it, it didn't disturb a part of motherboard. The performance is look great the power of fan is high to keep heat to cool down cpu quickly. By the way, if forgot to put fan controller. The fan are not run max speed, nice designs.

    Quick Highlights
    -Good cooling performance
    -2 fans included
    -Built in fan speed controllers
    -Attractive design

    Editor’s comment:

The only things that are downsides to me both concern the fans. First is the lack of including 3-pin to 4-pin adapters particularly when you are using both fans. The second is the noise generated when the fans are set to high, it is noticeable. The flipside to that is the fans have built in speed controllers so you can adjust it to find the right fit for you.
Thermaltake has a great performing cooler with the Frio that performs up with the top of the heap that certainly deserves a look when considering a high performing cooling solution.

    -Anti-vibration for fan installation
    -Less expensive than competitors

    Editor’s comment:
Thermaltake‘s Frio is performing well enough to be compared to the market references and to get a gold award. Well built, with large compatibility and a rich bundle, the Frio is able to keep most powerful CPUs very cool. The biggest con is the huge noise when fans are at full speed, both fans going at a very high rpm. The noise is much higher than competitors’ but the Frio’s price is also less expensive. If you don‘t have the budget for the competitors’ or if you can support to manage the fan speed manually, no hesitation.”

    Editor’s comment:
A reasonable price tag combined with overclocking capabilities make the Thermaltake Frio quite an attractive cooler. Physically, it's a pretty large model, which may cause restrictions in some cases. That being said, I'm a fan of it's facade as well as it's design. Temperature results recorded were a few degrees higher than previous models, but in comparison with price, performs well.

    Editor’s comment:
Thermaltake's Frio overall is an excellent cooler. The price is well within reason even for someone on a tight budget. It includes mounting hardware for use on any modern CPU socket including both AMD and Intel. With its unique new design coupled with five massive 8 mm heatpipes and two high CFM 120 mm fans the Frio performs just as good as it looks. As with past offerings from Thermaltake, both fans have separate speed adjustment knobs for fine tuning a balance between performance and noise levels to cater to any user's liking

    Editor’s comment:

The Frio is an excellent cooler and so far I haven't really touched on its best aspect, its price. At around £40, it provides performance that's on par or slightly trailing the best air coolers out there, and considering the inclusion of the two fans, the Frio looks more of a bargain.

    Editor’s comment:
Even with one low-speed fan attached, the Thermaltake Frio managed to provide better cooling than the excellent Titan Fenrir (with its fan at low speed) on both Intel sockets. Better still, for overclockers who can handle the noise, the Frio was the best cooler we’ve seen for LGA1366 with both fans at high speed. While the Frio’s cooling with low-speed fans was decent in our AMD system, it’s a great choice for taming your LGA1156 or LGA1366 CPU.

The FRIO certainly deserves an Editor's Choice award based on the merit that it is an overall excellent package. Performance is top notch and the bracket design is simple and not wasteful. Thermaltake did its homework here and it shows in every aspect. I would strongly suggest that you take a hard look at the FRIO if you are in the market, especially if you have concerns for mounting space. You will not be disappointed.

the Thermaltake Frio heatsink weighs a ton and the mounting hardware necessitates using a case that gives easy access to the rear of the motherboard. If you can live with that, for the best of both worlds just dial back the fan speed on both 120mm fans as low as it will go. Recommended.

The FRIO has the look of a high performance cooler with the nickel plated finish and excellent surface preparation on the base plate. It's a cooling solution that looks good and just works, with performance that can be tailored from mild to wild - simply by making an adjustment to the fan speed. Couple that with competitive pricing and Thermaltake has a winner on their hands with the release of the FRIO.

The Thermaltake Frio CPU Cooler is an excellent choice if you're looking for a new cooler, especially if you're overclocking your CPU. The Frio can handle the extra heat with ease while overclocking your CPU

     Editor’s comment:
As with all air coolers, you get the best performance out of the Frio when the fans are screaming to the tune of 40+ dB, However crank that down to a more reasonable level and the Frio still manages 94% of the same performance.
The Thermaltake Frio has an MSRP of $59.99 and $60 is not unreasonable to pay for a high-end air cooler, especially one that comes with dual fans included, something that many aftermarket coolers make you purchase separately

-Frio easily outpaced the Zalman CNPS10X
-it is an excellent choice for overclocking their processor.

    Editor’s comment:
If you would like to pickup one of these heatsinks to try for yourself, they are available at Newgg for a price of $60.00 + $7.87 shipping charge.  If you are looking for a heatsink that will handle everything you can toss at it them look no further than the Thermaltake Frio.

    Quick Highlights
    - Outstanding cooling capacity
    - Easy to fit
    - Easy to add included optional second fan
    - Covers every current consumer processor
    - Huge overclocking potential with 220w heat dissipation capacity

    Editor’s comment:
This cooler is flat-out awesome. Between the relative ease of fitting, the frankly amazing drops in temperature on a slightly overclocked quad-core CPU, the wide range of supported CPU sockets, and the little extra's like the built in fan speed controllers, rubberized fan mounts and optional extra fan, there's almost nothing negative I can say
