CCIE will be an easy target , go ahead
Salam,
Hmm...let me tell you exactly how did I pass CCNA & CCNP...but I am already CCNP 3 years back....but it has been changed totally so I had to read both back again from Jan-2007 to April-2007
Ok...
First I have read the CCNA Press book, then I did the Testking, then I went for the exam.
For the CCNP:
1. I hear the CBT (if available) I beleive you can find them all somewhere here.
2. After hearing the lecture, I goes to the CCNP Press book, then I read that Chapter....so I have read the book COVER-TO-COVER once.
3. I goes to the Quick reference Sheet quide (about 65 pages) for each exam, then I read it cover to cover also.
4. I use the Testinside, OR Pass4sure, I read the question, try to answer, if I could not, I note the number of the question, and search why did they answer it like that in the CCNP Press book. Then I revise all the mistaken answers (Noted answers) So I would be ready, by the way,for all the difficult questions, I write one line note on a plane paper, saying the hint of that question then I read all the noted lines few minutes before going into the exam.
By the way, each exam should not take more than 2-3 weeks...otherwise you will forget what you have studied in the early days.
I will tell you, that in this way, you will not be familier with the Practical, other that the things you have seen in the CBTs, But I advice for some practical when you are free, specially in the CCNA (to be familiar with the CLI (Command Lines) using the Network
Visualizer...I will add it to my link...which you may already know

I hope this has been informative for you..
لا تنسونا من دعائكم...
I am on the way for the CCIE Inshalla...

Thanks Moon20 for sharing your experience
I think this is an important subject and I hope that everyone share his experience so others still studying for CCNA and CCNP will have some guidance
I’m doing almost the same thing you do but because I don’t have your practical experience I’m allocating plenty of time for practical experience. For me one exam can take 2 or 3 month depending on my other commitment because I’m studying only on my free time.
I personally like TrainSignal videos more than CBTNuggets because the instructor (Chris Bryant) goes deeper on subjects and explains important details. He also focuses in practical configuration. I’ve got to admit that I haven’t try any other CDs
For the books I like Cisco press books and just like you I read them from cover to cover and I might repeat some areas many times until I understand it. For CCNA I also used Sybex, which I found it very useful on subnetting but generally I found Cisco press books more detailed.
For practical work I consider myself lucky because I have an access to Cisco routers, switches, PIX and ASA as well as other equipments and software in the university lab. I also use Dynamips when I can’t go to the lab
I’m still doing my CCNP but I’m hopping to finish it by the end of the year.
Good luck on your CCIE

Salam,
I believe that practicing is very important, that is right...Specially for the one who is not in the field
But you have to look into the matter from two ways...
1. Passing the exam and getting the certificate could get you a job, that is for the people who is looking for a job, so let them hit the points, and pass the exam (sure not through only the Testing tools...but at least through reading the book once)
2. I believe that there is no company could let you handle all the CCNP stuff alone..as an engineer, there must be a guy for the Security and another for the Routing, and another for the Wireless...and so on
Again, I am saying, Practice is important in the begining...for the NON-CCNA, then it is upto your career, and your focus to go for which field, so you can practice it there, and read that part of the CCNP book again....
I hope this has been informative...Thanks
