DMA IS enabled ? if not
Enabling DMA in Windows 95B/98/98SE/ME
1. In Windows, click the 'START' button, select 'SETTINGS', click on 'CONTROL PANEL'.
2. Double click on the 'SYSTEM' icon, click on the 'DEVICE MANAGER tab.
3. Click on the (+) sign beside 'CD-ROM',
4. Select the Yamaha recorder and click the Properties button.
5. Click on the Settings tab, ensure that the DMA box has a checkmark.
Note: Follow the same procedures for other devices on your system (CD-R/RW, DVD-ROM and CD-ROM, etc.) to ensure that DMA is also enabled where applicable.
For hard drives: double-click on the 'Disk drives' heading in Device Manager, then double-click on 'Generic IDE Disk Type xx' (the name of this item may be different on your system). DMA is located under the 'Settings' tab.
Enabling DMA in Windows 2000/XP
1. In Windows 2000, click the 'START' button, select 'SETTINGS', click on 'CONTROL PANEL', then double-click on the 'SYSTEM' icon.
In Windows XP, click on the 'START' button, then right-click on 'MY COMPUTER' and select 'PROPERTIES'
2. Select the 'HARDWARE' tab, click on the 'DEVICE MANAGER' button.
3. Click on the (+) sign beside 'IDE ATA/ATAPI CONTROLLERS'.
4. Double Click on the IDE channel (Primary or Secondary) that the Yamaha is connected to, this will bring up its 'PROPERTIES' dialog box. Select the 'ADVANCED SETTINGS' tab.
5. Set the "Transfer Mode" to 'DMA if available'.
('Device 0' is the MASTER and 'Device 1' is the SLAVE on the IDE channel.)
6. Click OK to accept.
Windows will prompt you to reboot the computer for the changes to take effect. Please reboot.
